Romney: Jackass Till The End

So, $35 million seems to be about all that Romney was willing to blow in his quest to become President. He suspended his campaign today. I would have been fine with watching him waste another ten or twenty mil, but whatev. It’s his money and he gets to choose how and when to waste it.

Anyway, money* aside, what I actually wanted to write about was how sometimes I get the feeling conservatives, including Romney, seem to be living in a different world.

Today, in his speech Romney said:

“If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make it more likely that Senator Clinton or Obama would win. And in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign, be a part of aiding a surrender to terror. “
(emphasis mine)

Is he fucking serious? If you track down the audio, he sure sounds serious. (And please don’t accuse me of taking this out of context or any of that. The transcript is right here and this is exactly how he worded it.)

But how can these people really think this way? Do they seriously believe that Americans are turning out nearly 2 to 1 to vote for Democrats because we’re all so excited to surrender to terror?

What other conclusion can you take from that statement?

Amazing. It blows my mind sometimes what these people can say in public with a straight face.

We’re all Americans, Mitt. Some of us just think the way your team has been doing stuff is dumb. And thankfully more and more people are realizing there is a better way.
